We Are The Team!!

Today at church the message really hit.  It usually hits me hard, but today it was something so simple put in a different way.  They always say 20 % of the people are doing 80% of the work in the church.  What struck me was this: "Please don't volunteer at church!!" stated the pastor.  He went on to say that volunteering at church is not like volunteering at your kids school or at the soup kitchen, where you just show up and ask where do you need me.  Church is not the place to volunteer, because you are on a team!!  Does the coach ask the players for someone to volunteer to play forward?  No, they go, they play their position...they are part of the team.  In church it is the same.  We are all on a team.  One team for the Kingdom!!  Part of God's team. So, there isn't anywhere to volunteer because we are all on THE TEAM.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3 23-24.

A little something a friend shared with me today.

People are often unreasonable and self-centered
FORGIVE THEM ANYWAY
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives
BE KIND ANYWAY
If you are honest, people may cheat you
BE HONEST ANYWAY
If you find happiness people may be jealous
BE HAPPY ANYWAY
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow
DO GOOD ANYWAY
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough
GIVE YOUR BEST ANYWAY
For, you see, in the end , it is between you and God.
IT WAS NEVER BETWEEN YOU AND THEM ANYWAY

A Day in My Life

This is what we woke up to this morning.  I think a few inches or so?? Love it!!  I want so badly to go cross country skiing.  But my skiing partner (Abbi) is going to a church party today and my other friend is whooping it up at Castaway Bay(how dare she!!) haha :)

Our Saturday morning tradition, cinnamon rolls and coffee for mom (maybe a tad for the older too).  Love the coziness of warm Saturday mornings.

Hope your weekend is wonderful.

I will follow you

Songs have been sticking in my head for a few days. The same song. I hear the lyrics in my head and I sing it to myself. I sit down and look it up on YouTube and really look at the words. The words telling the story of my relationship with God and how much it has developed in these 4.5 years. I love seeing his plan unfold for me and my family and how I live my life for Him.

Helping Others

Today I went and chopped off 8 in off my hair.  My beautiful daughter Abbi did this in the summer.  We are sending our hair to Pantene beautiful lengths program.  This program collects hair to make wigs for women with cancer and distributes them for free.  Click here to learn how to donate.

Here is Abbi in the summer with her 10 in ponytail.

My 8 in ponytail ready for donation.

My new do.

My photoshopped do.

We are still on our mission to collect Shoes for Haiti.  This has become a family mission around here.  My daughter Abbi and her friends have begun to decorate boxes and distribute flyers at her school.  She is on a mission to get the kids the shoes they need.

The box Abbi and Shane decorated for school in hopes of collecting a lot of shoes.

Today I found myself a the Dollar Tree and found tons of flip flops for a buck.  So me and my friend Lianne scooped up a few pair to add to the collection for Haiti.

Just goes to show you it doesn't take much to donate to someone in need,  your hair, a dollar. Not much at all. If you have a dollar store with flip flops and want to donate some, that would be greatly appreciated.  These shoes are flying out the end of March to bless the people of Haiti, so you have some time.

I did not write about this in anyway to receive any praise or glory on my part.  All of that goes to Him, our Heavenly Father.  I just want to illustrate how easy it is to help each other out and what a difference ONE person can make.  So go ahead, I dare you to make a difference.  All I do is for the Kingdom.  God Bless.

"He will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me'.

One of those week's

Well, it has been one of those week's around here.  Ugghh!  Computer has been non-compliant, so not much blogging, couponing or posting.

Went to pick up the kids from school on Monday and ended up with this.  But, got a new tire and figured out why my car was shaking when I drove over 40 mph.  Amen, to that.  Car is no longer shaking.

Woke up with stomach flu Tuesday morning, missed work, that equals no pay do to sick time used up.  Ugghh!!

Shane puking today and misses school.

Happy end to week:  No work tomorrow, Shane and I are better and computer fixed (with no cost).  Those swagbuck tool bars can really slow your computer down.

God is really doing some awesome things with the Shoes For Haiti mission.  We are collecting shoes and the doctor I am working with is making a trip to Haiti in March.  So the shoes will be delivered at the end of March.  Praise The Lord!!
Prayer Requests:
Please pray for Erik.  He is a friend of me and my husband and he just found out he has cancer for the 2nd time.  They have to remove parts of his colon, small intestine, and omentum with chemo to follow.  Please pray for healing and God to wrap His loving arms around this family.
Please pray that all goes well with the Haiti trip and the doctor can make the trip with her husband.  Please pray we can help as many people as possible.  All for the glory of His name!!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6.

A Big Thank You

I just wanted to give a big "Thank You" to Sanuk.  Today I received a huge box full of shoes.  These weren't just any old shoes, these were shoes that I had called the company and asked them to donate.  And they did.  22 pairs in total!!  This will start our mission of collecting Shoes For Haiti off on the right foot.

If you find yourself wanting to join me in this cause, just leave me a comment or click on the donate button underneath the Shoes For Haiti button.  Any donation would be greatly accepted and appreciated.

DQ Blizzard Maker Giveaway

Have you ever wanted to make your own ice cream from scratch??  My kids were bugging me to make ice cream.  We received The DQ Blizzard Maker by Spin Master and my kids were all set to sink their teeth into some smooth, homemade blizzards.

The DQ Blizzard Maker
Includes: Three ice cream dessert mix packs
Three candy topping packs
Blizzard cup and spoons
Idea / recipe Book
Extruder to pour ice cream

This is the set up for the Blizzard Maker.  The only items you need to get you started is salt and half and half.  Everything else is in the box and you are ready to go

This is Abbi cranking the ice cream.  This is the part we had a little trouble with.  The crank would keep slipping off and we would have to reset it on top of the machine.

Abbi and Shane checking out their ice cream.

Abbi testing out the final product.  The kids and the adults loved the final product.  The machine made good ice cream and it was fun for the kids and the hubby(he he).
