Owww!

Today was the worst!!
I woke up with a horrible headache that soon turned into a very bad migraine.
I went to work.
Took all kinds of meds, including my migraine meds and nothing worked.
I work as a nurse in the OR.
So during a hernia operation, I was sent running to the bathroom and depositing breakfast in the toilet. (Not fun)
Went home.
Took some anti-nausea meds and went to sleep.
Woke up without the headache and I now I just feel out of it.

Migraines have become a commonplace in my daily life. It hurts and it disrupts my day. I read all the literature about causes. Here is just a few:
Caffeine (have it by the truck loads)
Aspartame (Diet Coke wouldn't be Diet Coke without it)
Chocolate (Isn't that one of the food groups?)
Aged cheese (aren't they all aged?)
Stress (ok, come on)
Sleep disturbances (I have 4 kids, are you kidding me!)
Hormones (I am a woman)
Nitrites (what all good lunchmeats and hot dogs have)
Bright lights (did you catch where I spend most of my day?)
Ok, so today I have swore off the Diet Coke ( I have like a gazillion a day)! But I need something else to help me. My insurance company doesn't want to cover my wonderful migraine medicine, so I am looking for something natural, homeopathinc or the like.
Anybody deal with these? Got any good suggestions? Treatments that worked for you??
Help a sister out, cuz this is not fun :(

I eat yogurt everyday, drink pleny of water, and exercise. All have seemed to help. But as soon as it gets bad I don't think there is anything you can do but sleep or puke! I hate my migraines.

Following you back from Saturday.

SO sorry to hear about your migraines! I can relate, I have them too :( Usually, I have to get a cold washcloth over my eyes and lay still for a while, trying to *relax* - they are sooo miserable! Hope you feel better soon! Amanda :)

Sorry to hear you have awful migraines! I used to have them, only I'm not sure my "natural" cure is a good one for most: I got pregnant! For some reason mine quit after having a baby. What a blessing! A migraine AND a crying child would do me in!
Thanks for the follow! I'll follow when I get a few minutes on my real PC.

I know your pain. I've had migraines since I started puberty. Excedrin migraine does help when I don't have presrip meds available. 2 excedrin with a 2 advil chaser are a good combo. Massaging your neck with vicks (your forehead too) helps me when nothing else seems to be working. I rub HARD and for about 30 minutes but it does provide relief. I also use a corn or rice bag. (Just a fabric sack filled with dried corn or rice and microwaved to heat) I put the bag on my right eye and the base of my skull on the right side. Also B vitamins. B vits are related to neurological function and if take daily and faithfully this is supposed to reduce frequency of migraines (and give you an energy boost!)
Hope it helps. Thanks for visiting my blog.
