Glee Gum has candy making kits too. They have Make Your Own Chocolate Kit, Make Your Own Gummies Kit, and Make Your Own Chewing Gum Kit.
We picked the Make Your Own Gummies Kit for our review. This was not only fun to do with the kids, but educational. The kit came with all the ingredients you need to make your very own gummies. There was a story included in the kit of how seaweed is used as a gelling agent in the gummie process and how it is harvested in the Philippines. Seaweed harvesting is a sustainable and eco-friendly way for people to make a living without harming the environment.
Here is a picture of the seaweed after the gelling agent, carrageenan is released after heating. We simply removed the seaweed and used the liquid that was left over.
The generous people at Glee Gum have offered to give one lucky follower a Make Your Own Kit of your choice . That is one sweet deal!!!
This giveaway will be open until 11:59 PM on December 28, 2010. At that time I will use random.org to determine the winner. The winner will then be emailed and have 24 hours to respond, otherwise I will choose a new winner. This contest is open to the US residents.

Now we were ready to add the colored sugar packet.
The kids are placing their gummies into the molding starch and then we can pop them into the fridge.
After 10 minutes, the candies were ready and the kids gobbled them up. I am not a fan of anything gummie and these were really good. The kids loved making them and eating them even better.

We had a great time with this kit and learned a great deal about the environment and making candy. They can't wait to try the next kit, now we need to decide...chocolate or gum???
