The Mercy House

The Mercy House provides support for pregnant girls living in the streets in Kenya.  This is a cooperative from Kristen Welch and her family and Maureen, a graduate of the Compassion program in Nairobi.

As most of you know, there will be a Sustainable Skills Program at the maternity home, where the girls will learn sewing, soap-making, basket-weaving, crafts and jewelry-making skills, as well as gardening, cooking, parenting and much more.

Here are the items The Mercy House is collecting for April:
Craft & sewing items- thread all colors, regular spools, large funky buttons (they will be using African fabrics for the projects), jewelry supplies: round nose jewelry pliers, small jump rings, eye pins, white glue, fishing line, soap molds, yarn, and old calendars.

ADDED: scissors for sewing, scissors for cutting paper and scrapbook paper-all sizes, colors patterns, small paint brushes, small craft styrofoam
You can mail the items to:
The Mercy House
8000 Research Forest Dr Ste. 115-110
Spring, TX 77382

They will also need shoes for the girls in the home-various sizes of athletic and church shoes in good condition.

They are still in need of large (used) suitcases for transporting items.

Deadline: April 30, 2011
